The shortage of raw materials in Hong Kong has

produced a very serious situation, since there are some 1,700

registered factories in this small Colony. Unless supplies

are made available, it is feared that unemployment will be

inevitable.

6.

Hong Kong to-day sets an example of courage and

common sense at a very difficult period in world history.

Any statement which the Secretary of State is able to make

concerning H.M. Government's attitude towards the future of

Hong Kong would be most welcome.

7.

Hong Kong total trade in 1950 amounted to £470,000,000,

including trade with the U.K. and the Commonwealth at £136,000,000.

N.B. The Savoy Luncheon is arranged by Millington Publications.

Ltd. in collaboration with the Hong Kong Government Office.

The Honorary Organiser is Mr. F.C. Millington. The

visitors from Hong Kong are entertained by British

Manufacturers, Commercial Houses and Institutions.
